Review of Starting Out in the Evening (2007) by Jennifer H — 10 Aug 2008
I enjoyed the film very much. Langella beautifully captures the angst and complacency of a man coming to terms with his aging body and lack of drive to complete his (probably) last novel. Though the grad student was pushy and nosy, she helps him look at his life, and he helps his daughter look at hers.
Lili Taylor is excellent as his daughter. Lauren Ambrose and Adrian Lester are also very good.
