Review of Starter for 10 (2006) by Helen H — 05 Jan 2008
An enjoyable film - works because of James McAvoy, though the two female leads are also very good. Consider me firmly planted in the middle of the bandwagon of McAvoy fans. When he's on screen I can't take my eyes off him.
He has that knack that some actors do of making the viewer feel everything his character feels, which is what makes him so mesmerizing - you're invested in him. It really hit me watching this movie that the reason is the expressiveness of his face.
He can do more with a look and a biting of the lip than a lot of actors could do with a line of great dialogue. I think he's great, and I look forward to watching him for years to come.
