Review of Starter for 10 (2006) by Nick B — 04 Apr 2009
Cracking coming of age movie. Really sweet, heart warming and easy to watch movie, that seemingly only the UK can do on a cheap budget. James McAvoy shows that he has undoubted star quality in an understated role where he is likeable whilst doing quite a few head slappingly stupid things over the course of 90 mins.
Alice Eve is also great. You can't help but like her when you really shouldn't, most of the characters in this movie are like that, which is a tricky balance to pull off. Even Catherine Tate is good in it without being annoying.
Worth watching, I really liked it.
