Review of Start the Revolution Without Me (1970) by Eric A — 27 Nov 2010
A bit of light silliness that's like a primer for Monty Python or '70s Mel Brooks (indeed, Brooks crams in almost as many gags during the French Revolution vignette in "History of the World" as are found here).
The overrated Wilder's comic rage doesn't always mesh well with Sutherland's knack for understatement and goofy pronunciations. Surprisingly, the ending stacks up with "The Jerk" and "Holy Grail" as one of the all-time great groaners.
