Review of Starsky & Hutch (2004) by Christopher J — 23 Jul 2010
After all the crap they have made together, here they are again. The idiots Ben Still and Owen Wilson are here in another nonsense comedy that is Starsky & Hutch. Starsky & Hutch was a fantastic opportunity for them to let loose and goose and they certainly do but I was hoping for a much funnier script.
The movie is entertaining and you aren't really bored during the screening but still i, like most people expected a lot more humor to be in there because I mean Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are in it. Stiller and Wilson are undeniably good together and every time they come together you can bet on its going to be funny. Stiller over-acts his character like always and most of the time it comes out great including here. Wilson brings also a solid and hilarious performance. You can't forget about the extras, Vince Vaugn who's one of my favorite comedy actor is fantastic like always and the only problem about his performance was the fact that he wasn't in enough of scenes. Will Ferrel brings everything he has and makes the movie even more colorful then it was.
The director Todd Phillips who's known for his ridiculous comedies but he was the one who brought you movies like Road Trip and the unforgettable Old School. This time I wasn't as happy with him because he didn't squeeze enough funny out of the script and often it felt a bit forced. It's funny to see how the 70's style is used in such a high amount but the comedy was unfortunately lacking.
2/5.
