Review of Starsky & Hutch (2004) by Robert T — 16 Nov 2008
Though I was never into the old television series, I was quite interested in viewing this film. The film started out a little slow for me. Honestly, the first ten-minutes through the film I was bored to tears.
It did not interest me at all. But gradually, the film got more entertaining and the story and plot finally bloomed -- around 15-minutes into the film, and continue to do so. The film wasn't as funny as I thought it would be, I mean, having both Ben Stiller and Own Wilson, I thought it would be a laugh-fest.
Sadly, it was not. I felt the jokes were more amusing than funny. I smiled, but I didn't laugh. Though there was only one part of the film that I actually laughed out loud, and that was toward the end of the film when the characters dressed up for their undercover mission.
Overall, the film was entertaining. It wasn't good, but it was still a good watch. I still probably won't go back and view the original series whatsoever, but I will probably appreciate it more.
One thing that annoyed me was the film's ending. Having the two original actors from the series in a cameo role was a little cheesy for me. Heck, it was also random.
