Review of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (2008) by Andrew M — 01 Sep 2008
I only saw this because I'm a fan of the first movie and the fact Casper Van Dien was brought back.
The problem with the movie is that it was way too far under budget. I mean, the graphics are supposed to be better in a sequel but they were as bad as the end of Transporter 2 with the plane scene.
It was good to see Casper Van Dien back in action, but some of his lines were bad probably due to sub par writing. And don't get me started on that Sky Marshall character...I don't think I've ever been as irritated watching someone open their mouth before. Jolene Blalock is a looker, and I probably would have given this movie an extra half star if it showed her revealing serious skin in a shower scene like in the first movie.
All in all, rent this movie only if you're a fan of the first movie. For the casual movie goers, don't expect anything terribly exciting or profound. The root of every problem lies in it's lack of budget. With more money, they probably could have gotten better writers and brought back most of the original cast like Neil Patrick Harris and Michael Ironside!!!
