Review of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (2008) by David D — 24 Oct 2008
Well it was a vast improvement over the second Starship Troopers film, but of course not a patch on the original.
There were obviously no supermarkets to open that day, because the fine thespian Casper Van Dien returned as Johnny Rico: the role that almost made him famous. To tell the truth I didn't notice until about an hour into it that it was he and not an even cheaper tribute act.
Strangely Denise Richards wasn't enticed back by a pillowcase full of used notes, so the Argos Angelina, Jolene Blalock, gallantly stepped in as the feisty female soldier in a dirty vest top. You may remember her other acting job; she was the one in Star Trek: Enterprise with the Lego haircut and chapel hatpeg nipples.
Anyway, despite the shockingly unfinished looking CGI that was clearly done on my old Commodore Amiga A500, I cannot really complain too much. It was an entertaining yarn with some good action scenes and moments of dark humour.
