Dumb military tactics. Starships they fly, only fly. No armor, shield, missile locking, projectile tracking, inter continental basaltic missiles. Well, it's just wise to say there's no missile at all.
Weak plot. I guess the original novel was that bad, too. Idiot friendly and redundant dialogs. Poor casting as well. From a film made in 1997, I was expecting way better outcome.
