Review of Starred Up (2014) by Christopher H — 25 Mar 2014
A truly gripping film made purely from fantastic performances! I don't normally like heavy dialogue, single location based films but there was something about this that kept me quiet. It portrayed what seemed a raw true portrait of a prison life without the hollywood touches.
Also, unexpectedly, funny at times. The dialogue is hard to follow from the start between the mumbling and slag speak which became a little frustrating but when you've worked out what's going on it's easy sailing.
I have to remember back to the days of lock stock to compare a movie that features so much bad language - maybe not one to watch with your gran. Can't see much repeat viewing potential but certainly worth an initial watch.
