Review of Starred Up (2014) by Oskar B — 24 Apr 2015
Very well made and thought provoking, this film delivered nice realistic scenarios inside a prison which made it very entertaining to watch without it being dumb in any way. Jack O'Connell is very good as the main character who is a young and aggressive prisoner that likes to start fights.
His father played by Mendelson is in the same prison and that makes for some nice father and son drama but not in a traditional way thank god. This film is smart with sudden hints at magnificence and its also very well done.
All the characters seem real but in some cases the stereotypes come out but in some cases breaks those stereotypes down at the end of the movie. Cinematography is well done and really gets the best of the inside of a prison.
The music didn't stand out but it didn't really matter because this picture didn't depend on it.
