Review of Stargate: The Ark of Truth (2008) by Dennis L — 15 Jun 2008
After 10 long seasons of Stargate SG-1, the series finally concludes its Ori saga with a movie feature. Ori is an alien religious cult that relies on the quantity of its worshipers to augment their supernatural powers. So the more followers they have, the more powerful they become. Fortunately, our heroes from Earth has come up with a device to inhibit these powers as long as they're nearby.
Geeky as it can get, the Stargate SG-1 TV series is still a very popular Sci-FI series but the last few years has experienced a steady decline in the storyline - especially with the departure of fan favorite Richard Dean Anderson.
The movie unfortunately suffers from this decline as the long-awaited series movie finale doesn't really deliver anything new or spectacular to the series. It simply feels like a very very long episode. One would think that since the 11th season was canceled, they would have had around a seasons worth of material for the movie. Sadly they didn't.
The series finally ends like a lot of series do - not with a big bang, but with a whimper.
