Review of Stargate: The Ark of Truth (2008) by Scott N — 11 Aug 2008
If you've seen it you'll understand why it was downgraded from the Big Screen to DVD/TV. The 'episode' spends far too long at the beginning reminding everyone what happened before and who is who.
It lacks any real story and is eveident the writers didn't know how to fill the time - hence the return of the Replicators. As for the special FX the new Human form Replicator is about the best thing in the whole show.
In terms of characterisation I found myself realising that Col. Mitchell has only one role - keep the bad guy busy by getting the crap beaten out of yourself while someone else saves the day. Also, there is no explanation of why Carter is there and not on her new assignment in Atlantis.
Oh well! Good effort but Continuum will have to do much better if there is ever to be a 'real' SG1 movie.
