Review of Stargate (1994) by Jim M — 10 Jan 2009
Classic sci-fi adventure story about plucky can-do Earthlings unearthing an ancient artifact that allows them to travel to a planet on the other side of the known universe and discover a civilization similar to ancient Egypt, learn a few ancient secrets and lead a revolt against the tyrannical God-Pharoah Ra.
Kurt Russell was made for this role (Col. O'Neil, kick-ass soldier and mission leader) well James Spader makes you see him in a whole new light as the nerdy Dr. Jackson. Great effects for the tme, a rousing score to get the blood pumping.
Boo-Yeah Hollywood needs to make more flicks like this.
