Review of Stargate (1994) by Kyle C — 13 Jun 2009
When I found out that Roland Emmerich was directing the film I had my doubts if it was going to be good or not. Remember Godzilla the movie, the american one? It was one of the worst Godzilla made movies ever! I always find a pattern with Roland. Every movie he makes its always some nerd during an apocalypse that usually saves the day...but I'm going off a rabbit trail on this so here is my review on the movie.
Without giving away much its pretty much about a portal to another dimension. However it is pretty entertaining. It's like watching a cheesy Indiana Jones movie. Not alot of great acting, even Kurt Russell I think did a pretty bad job but hey it's sci-fi movie so I'm not asking perfection.
The story plot is intresting and you get hooked as soon as they go through the portal. The music is really redundant and there were parts of the movie that could have been cut off. Some of the editing in the movie was bad in some areas. In one two guys talk for about 10 seconds then go into a next scene...if your going to have a scene...make a scene!
Overall though I liked it and I can't wait to dive into the series. Stargate gets a 3 out of 5.
