Review of Stargate (1994) by Ryan J — 17 Dec 2009
I was so disappointed after watching this film. It had so much potential and could have exceeded it. Unfortunately, it accomplished much less. Kurt Russell and Spader were fine actors in this, however, the script didn't call for much did it? Once on the other side of the Star Gate, the film turned into this utter cheese fest, where the navy seals are worshiped, and of course the predictable love story occurs which was so lame.
It'd been great if once on the other side the troops were taken to a futuristic world, and they had to find out about the symbols to take them back with the help of humans on the other side, but only in a 'modern' world.
The main villain was so lame and womanly, not frightening whatsoever. This movie was an utter disappointment. I don't know how it spawned a tv series which is currently on it's 10th season.
