The Film that proves Roland Emmerich can make a good movie when he chooses to. Well, This, and "Universal Soldier". So, Who doesn't know the basic story? Team travels to distant planet, encounter evil God/Pharaoh/Alien, Rescue Planet from him, and return home.
Great performances all around. Haven't seen the television shows, but If they're anything like this, I'll Watch them.
