Review of Stardust Memories (1980) by John P — 09 Jul 2007
Woody Allen's massively misunderstood masterpiece. A playful homage to Fellini, this film displays a man at the height of his creative powers. In his portrayal of a film-maker underoging a serious crisis both in his professional and personal life, Allen has created a surreal and extraordinary study of art and illusion, seen through the eyes of his most undisguised alter-ego.
This is a tour de force of acting, writing and directing - a work of absolute genius, and one of my all time favourites.
