Review of Stardust Memories (1980) by Lansing M — 20 Aug 2008
Brilliant. Forget the Fellini references, this movie is Allen at his most poignant, romantic, heart-wrenching, and, of course, still funny. Not "Bananas/Take the Money/Sleeper" or eve "Annie Hall" funny, but a grown-up, complex, "I've experienced a lot of life, and the world ain't a funny place -- yet there is a saving grace to humor" type of funny.
Oh, and perhaps the greatest Woody Allen soundtrack (which is saying A LOT)!
