Review of Stardust (2020) by Tvjerry — 01 Dec 2020
The first frame of this film proclaims this is “mostly” fiction, so don’t expect to see or hear much of anything by David Bowie (this is NOT a biopic). Johnny Flynn plays the iconic star before he was famous and makes virtually no effort to look like him.
He travels to the US to promote his new record, but the whole trip (and his attitude) is a disaster. The only positive is that the trip and other personal conflicts inspire is his future character reinventions.
This is a sullen drama played out with tedious pacing and the singer’s frustrating self-sabotaging attitude. No magic here and not much to provide insight into the real man.
