Review of Stardust (2010) by Dan H — 11 Mar 2013
An extremely weird and silly but still all too charming fairy tale. My only complaint is Michelle Pfiefer as the evil witch (just didn't like her at all for some reason) and Robert Deniro as a gay cross-dressing pirate (I did like him here, but I disagree with the choice to cast him in this role on principle).
The film is a mish-mash of various fairy tale elements (some work like the core story about the fallen star turned girl and the boys quest to win the heart of a girl, and some don't like the evil witches), and while it is certainly uneven it's still charming and sweet enough for me to recommend it to any fairy tale lover.
