Review of Stardust (2007) by Annap. — 11 Aug 2007
I always liked the book, but I was quite ambivalent about the movie adaptation since I'm not a fan at all of Claire Danes. I was actually surprised at how much I liked the movie, despite a few flaws.
Cox did really well to make you care about him and about his quest, and his romance with Danes developed very naturally. The princes were awesome, and Michelle Pfeiffer was simply excellent. DeNiro and his pirates were funny as all get out, and the movie was overall a lot funnier than you would think.
All in all a very, very enjoyable movie that should do well - if not at the box office then on the aftermarket. I saw it early on Saturday afternoon in an almost full theater, which was as good sign I thought.
