Review of Starcrash (1978) by Christopher J — 16 Oct 2007
OH MY GOD! BRILLIANT! YES! AMAZING! AHHH! :D.
Okay, so, not really in the normal sense. But it's a serious blast of superfun. Basically, this is the movie that everyone thought George Lucas was making when he did Star Wars. The cheesy, pulpy, serial-esque piece of junk that once had names like Commander Cody, Flash Gordon, and Buck Rogers. While Lucas went onto do something amazing, one Luigi "Lewis Coates" Cozzi did this tour de force of blindingly fast pace, abundant optical effects, and easily some of the best logic in a sci-fi movie ever. If you enjoyed the campiness of Mike Hodges' Flash Gordon (1980), I highly suggest this as the laughable "other flick to see." Hell, it's worth it just for Christopher Plummer and David Hasselhoff! =D.
