Review of Starcrash (1978) by Adam E — 19 Mar 2011
Theres a comic called axe cop where the comic is drawn by a an adult but the story is written by his kid brother. well this film kinda feels like that when you watch it! rips of starwars and many other sci fi pics of the era (even 2001!) and for almost all of the running time feels like its rushing from one set piece to another! its not until the very deathstar style final battle that it slows down a bit.
The end battle looks surprisngly brutal with laser blowing into people and its quite a lot of fun. The plot is very slight and most of the time it makes no frikking sense. windows get smashed on a space station but no one dies of oxygen lose, people suddenly talk about powers they have then lose them for no reason, useless and cheesey as hell dialogue along with low rent special effects top it off.
If you ignore al this its actually really fun :) rock em sock em space action were characters rip and chew up the stage like its going outta style (much like the mental costumes all the cast wear). my personal fav must be the deep south speaking robot whos scared of water! pure genius and loads of silly silly fun.
