Review of Starbuck (2011) by Christopher T — 29 Nov 2011
A unbelievably funny film, but the kind of "unbelievable" you are happy to let slide between the cracks. Basically, his life is a mess. For years, he gets by financially by donating sperm at fertility clinic - a lot of sperm. He gets the moniker, Starbuck, after the world-renowned Holstein bull which sired more than 200,000 offspring. He has thugs holding under water in his bathtub because he owes them $$. He's late with his meat deliveries for the family business (and at times doesn't deliver it at all). And he doesn't deliver on getting company team's uniforms before the team photos. Tabar-frikkin'-nak!
His (ex?) girlfriend is pregnant, but doesn't want him to play any role in the raising of their child. Then he finds out that all his "donations" have "fathered" over 500 children! And 142 of them want to find out who they got there genes from. He's given a sheaf of names, and proceeds to find them one at a time and help them. He even shows up at a meeting of the 142 young people. While trying to help out his children, they help out him to be a better father and man.
Funniest film I've seen in a long time!
