Review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) by Denny H — 30 Dec 2017
Although there were some loose ends, I rate Star Wars:The Last Jedi 5 stars. I'm 62 years old and have seen all the Star Wars movies since it's inception in the theaters. I like the theme of sacrifice for the sake of humanity.
I think heroism and virtue needs to be brought back to films. Films heavily influence people who are receptive to it, so I think directors have an obligation to promote that - touch instead of harden hearts.
I love the way the director wove the old school Star Wars characters and story with the new; how every character, even the animals, played an important role; how there was tribute to the original actors without being hackneyed or cloying.
I love how they used beloved actors from other classic movies such as Laura Dern and Benito Del Toro. I also loved the ironic lessons learned by the characters that helped them grow in character and the relationships that developed from sharing a victory, challenge, hardship or battle.
Great story telling! In a way, spiritual.
