Review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) by Tt C — 20 Dec 2017
The most anticipated of films. Sadly on second viewing I grew bored and found myself gawping at too many plot holes and a sense of frustration.
For me it was unnecessarily provocative; it seems Johnson was desperate to be the one to kill off Luke and even more desperate to provoke intense initial reactions; an example being Luke throwing the lightsabre. Much of this film could have been shared across two films and whilst they've cleared the way for a new story line I am left with a sense of not caring where it goes now. Devoid of so many original characters, rather than a sensible generational hand over, they have been rushed out to make way for the new diverse range of heros, killing off potential story arcs that could have slow burned and been more digestible. Rush rush, lack of leadership and a desire to be the clever one to.
