Review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) by Account S — 20 Dec 2017
As someone who grew up with the originals (saw A New Hope at the age of 7), what more can be said at this point?
It's not a bad movie by any stretch. It's the story that stings. And it's delivery. And the implications. It makes one appreciate Empire Strikes Back all the more, for its epic simplicity, character development, story arc, and finite but expanding universe.
This is in many ways the Harry Potterism of Star Wars. A world of no boundaries, only new incantations that bring new abilities.
Lord of the Rings.
Empire Strikes Back.
Harry Potter.
The Last Jedi.
These are the demarcation lines. One group is finite yet epic. The other is epically unbounded.. Which do you prefer?
I'll take the former. And miss it all the more ...
