Review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) by Hchi4163 — 25 Dec 2017
Only good thing about this movie is the effort from most of the actors and the dynamics between Rey, Kylo Ren, and Luke. Otherwise, this entire movie is a mess with too much misplaced humor, inconsistent pacing, and weird transitions.
It's a shame because the movie had some bold ideas, but the execution was terrible that I'm surprised the studio actually went ahead with the final product. Worse of all, it adds absolutely nothing to the Star Wars lore and instead, negates almost everything the previous movie, "Force Awakens," set up.
It serves no purpose and should never have been approved. There is no overall vision or direction and you cannot claim to be the middle act of a "sequel" trilogy without one. It's almost as if Disney and Rian Johnson wanted to make a "trolling" movie to stir up the fan base.
I still have trouble believing anyone can think this mess of a movie is a "masterpiece." Objectively, this was not even a competent movie, let alone a Star Wars movie and I'm terribly disappointed.
