Review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) by Josh L — 24 Jan 2019
Exposing a very hypocritical critique!
Humor: TLJ has terrible humor and jokes that are too out of place or contemporary in this setting. "yeah, Ill hold." "Leia has a message for him, about his Mother" "the dry cleaning droid, or even the menacing black droid".
The critics "conveniently" turn a blind eye to the following:
ANH: "I suggest a new strategy, let the Wookie win." "We were made to suffer, it's our lot in life." "Squealing Death Star droid scared by Chewbacca in a corridor." "They're going to kill her, "Better her than me!" "She's rich." ."Where did you dig up that old fossil?" "Boring conversation anyway!" "Somebody get this big walking carpet out of my way." Pretty contemporary jokes in 1977 for a galaxy far, far away.
ESB: "And I thought they smelled bad on the outside!" "Stuck-up, scruffy looking, nerf-herder!" "Laugh it up fuzzball." "You could use a good kiss!".
"Yoda and R2 tug a war....Mine! Mine! Mine!" And famously, Lando's smooth (and quite contemporary for the time) Colt 45 delivery to Leia, "Helloooo, what have we here?!" Again, out of place and corny for a galaxy far far away....
ROJ: "You're playing the wrong message!" "I'm out of it for a little while and everyone has delusions of grandeur!" "You'll get no such pleasure from us,, right? Chewie response in growl, Right!" "Boba Fett?! Where?!" "Droid tortured in Jabbas palace being flipped upside down having its feet heated to silly screams." "Great Chewie, always thinking with your stomach!" "C-3P0 "After floating, I never knew I had it in me. "Every Ewok scene slapped with a joke. " "Chewie swinging to an AT-ST with a Tarzan yodel anyone?".
The Prequels: "Jar Jar, forced romance, midecloreans, and almost all of it a joke!".
SOOOO, you still think TLJ was the ONLY ST film with silly jokes and humor way out of place??? LOL! At least be consistent Hypocrites! Your critique on this alone is hilariously bad!
Na....TLJ had less of them and was consistent in its delivery with them! As far as I'm concerned the humor in the TLJ felt very much like the ones in the OT and loved em' all! On top of everything else, TLJ hands down my second favorite Star Wars film to date!!!
