Review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) by Daishou_Ueshiba — 15 Jan 2018
Compared to all the other films in the series, my opinion is that it isn't the glorious savior some consider it to be, nor is it the destruction of everything sacred that others lament. The new characters are shallow and childish, the old ones are embarassing and cringy and any potential for good storytelling or personal sacrifice is eschewed in favor of comedic relief or self-righteous socio-political preachiness.
It's stupid, mindless, pointless popcorn fodder, but I do consider it to at least have a bit more depth than the first one, it at least tries to do something new, it just fails entirely.
