They had a great opportunity to get the gang back together one last time and had it off to the newer characters. I guess they tried? They failed miserably and it was a mediocre movie at best. I have been waiting since Return of the Jedi to see the originals back together but it wasn't meant to be.
This new Star Wars material has destroyed the Star Wars magic and legacy as far as I'm concerned.
