Review of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) by Lea B — 18 Oct 2015
While it probably isn't one of the greatest films out there, I will say that, for what it was, I enjoyed it. I did get what was it about, what was the plot, what's going on and who the characters were (and when I say I know who the characters were, I do not mean to say that this was my first enocunter with the Star Wars franchise, but because of the it is the fact that this movie introduced some new characters to me). And I'm aware that this movie is a pilot to Star Wars The Clone Wars show, so we should be aware that we can't expect anything spectacular. The story seems pretty basic, Anakin gets a Padawan of his own, they get a mission they have to do together while trying to adapt to each other. And no, I am not one of those people who hated Ahsoka at first. Yes, I am very well aware of the fact that there's a lot of people hated her in this movie because they thought she'd be a generic, quirky and annoying brat who'd do nothing but screw things up. To me, she didn't seem anything like it at all, not even for a second. She just seemed rebellious, skillful and clearly having a mind of her own.
It was weird to see Star Wars movie in animation for me, because it was the first time I've ever seen a Star Wars project done like this. The characters may look a tiny bit weird and the way they move is also maybe a bit weird, but it's not like it is all exaggerated like in stuff like "Cloudy with the chance of Meatballs".
Overall, this movie is pretty far from being a great film, but it's still good enough for me to enjoy and quite possibly watch it again at any time. In fact, this is what got me interested in the show that came out about two years after this movie was released. So yeah, if you're a new comer to The Clone Wars show, I'd recommend you to watch this movie first.
