I beg to differ with the negative reception that The Phantom Menace receives. Despite Jar Jar being a horrible character everything else is top notch. Anakin is not a whinny teenager yet, the pod races are highly entertaining, and the final lightsaber battle with Darth Maul is one of the best Star Wars has to offer.
