Still a great movie. One of the most stunningly creative movies ever made. Yes, the acting can be a little stilted, and Jar Jar is an acquired taste, to say the least, but the Phantom Menace captures that same sense of wonder that Star Wars did for me in 1977.
Just forget the hipster coolness of bashing it and enjoy the movie!
