Review of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) by Lo W — 19 Dec 2017
It is not necessarily a bad movie, just the weakest in the series. It feels very childish in places and really doesn't have a lot going on. The movie has a few noteworthy scenes that are exciting and shows off some impressive effects.
Those who have seen this movie likely know which two sequences I am talking about. If more of the movie was as exciting as fun as these two moments, the movie could have been better. Due to the complex, talky, and boring subplots, it can feel like a drag.
It isn't really sure of what it wants to be. The humor is very immature and the dialogue is messy in places. I grew up with Star Wars and nostalgia is primarily why I still am able to watch this movie today.
