In the 1980s the Star Wars franchise became one of the most beloved film sagas of all time with a striking line of toys, comics, books, costumes, games. Star Wars was huge. it told the story of a man who becomes a villain.

After 15 years Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was announced and the hype was enormous. We were finally going to see the story we wanted to see. We were finally going to see the origin of Darth Vader one of the most iconic movie characters of all time.

Instead we were treated to something extremely different from what we expected. And I honestly have to say this...What was George Lucas thinking when he wrote this? Now before I express anymore I understand that this movie was made for children, and as a child I liked this film.

But as an adult, I cannot believe that they screwed up a franchise as much as they did. In a list of Top 10 movies that derailed their own franchise The Phantom Menace would take the top spot. I really do not know why George decided to do this to his own franchise and make something that we all loved and make it into a bizarre childrens movie that barely keeps any of the love of the original Star Wars.

Not alot of things that are positive about this film. For instance who is the main character? Shouldn't it be Anakin? But its not! That there is a major problem with this film. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is a weak addition to the Star Wars franchise and can probably be skipped in its entirety.
