Better than you remember. The CGI effects have not aged as well as the practical effects in the original trilogy, but it does serve as a slow build to the series. Too much expectation was placed on it at the time to deliver the culmination of a billion fans dreams.

In hindsight, it was a decent Sfi-fi flick and a low key start to the prequels.
