Review of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) by Tjaw — 18 Nov 2018
A catastrophe in almost every imaginable way, The Phantom Menace is a near-unwatchable fiasco of a Star Wars movie, filled with god-awful performances, laughable dialogue, some of the messiest and most dated-looking CGI action sequences ever put to film, a needlessly complicated, cliché-ridden story that still doesn't make a lick of sense almost 20 years since the film's release, disgraceful racial stereotypes and intolerable, insomnia-curing pacing that stretches out the jumble of failed political plot threads to form an unforgivably long runtime.
