Review of Star Wars (1977) by Gordon H — 20 Feb 2016
Feel the FORCE!
Nineteen years after the formation of the Galactic Empire, a young farmboy named Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is thrust into the struggle of the Rebel Alliance when he happens upon a holo-recording of a beautiful Rebel princess that is meant for Obi-Wan 'Ben' Kenobi (Alec Guinness), who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan begins Luke's Jedi training as Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader, Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), from the clutches of Darth Vader and the evil Empire.
It's been almost 40 years now since George Lucas' space epic first appeared on the big screen. I was a young seven-year old boy who still remembers how it felt to see that HUGE Star Destroyer keep filling that massive screen as it flew over the planet of Tatooine! How it felt to hear John Williams' incredible score! Or how it felt to feel the tingles on the back of the neck as that iconic breathing mask of Darth Vader hissed for the first time! Wow! What a movie! Truly changing forever the way we looked at movies, STAR WARS is one of my most favorite movies! If you still haven't seen this American masterpiece, I highly, highly recommend that you do!
