Review of Star Wars (1977) by Phillip D — 11 Jul 2015
Arguably the greatest science fiction film of all time and unarguably the start of the greatest science fiction franchise of all time, Star Wars is a stunning achievement by a budding director who managed to eke one of the greatest films of all time out of a minimal budget and a host of mostly unknown stars.
The results are fantastic, a true space opera that is rivaled only by its immediate sequels, despite endless attempts at duplication (see Avatar and Jupiter Ascending). Technically perfect as a piece of good film and as a classic blockbuster, Star Wars continues to entertain and enthrall audiences today with still relevant visual effects and a culture that has been carried to all corners of the globe.
