Review of Star Wars (1977) by Matt C — 10 Jan 2016
The dirge of the prequels is over (if never to be quite forgotten) and here we are, back where we all fell in love. The first half hour is let's be honest a bit dull, it's clunky, some of the dialogue is atrocious (witness Ford barely managing not to laugh at his own lines on occasion).
..it is though still flipping wonderful. Particularly once the central trio of Luke, Leia and Solo get together it then goes on from strength to strength. The concluding half an hour or so (basically WWII dog-fighting in space) is still fantastic to watch.
I'm not sure how many times I've seen the Death Star get blown up but I still have to stifle a cheer. Awesome.
