Review of Star Wars (1977) by Keshav P — 17 Dec 2017
I can get past the special effects not being so great as this movie was way before my time, however that's no excuse for the characters to be as bland as they were. The main villain, Darth Vader was no where near as menacing as he should've been.
His plan involves building a death star and killing any henchman that gives him bad news. Seeing as death is possible at any time when working with Vader, it baffles me why so many people joined the Galactic empire.
Then there's our hero Luke, played by Mark Hamill who's acting is as robotic as the annoying droid, C3PO. Never have I seen a character so whiny as Luke. The best character is Harrison Ford's Han Solo who's charisma is greatly appreciated in one of the most boring movies ever.
Oh and he can actually act. The characters were out of place, the story was absurd and the dialogue was unbearable. The script could've been written by a child. The politics of the scenario of this movie are never mentioned.
Why is the empire so bad? Why should we be rooting for the rebels? How did Vader get into power in the first place? If it wasn't for Han Solo this mess of a movie wouldn't be watchable.
