A film has to have a great story to be a worthwhile film. Here, you have more than that. The Undiscovered Country is the sixth film in the Trek franchise, and once again Nicholas Meyer directs a stunning addition to the world of Star Trek.

The film is set in the twilight of the careers of the defining captain and crew of Trek lore. We have the quintessential Kirk, Spock, McCoy trio and all the others in a film with a dark, mysterious assasination plot.

A nice addition here is seeing Sulu as the captain of the Excelsior. Personally this is my favorite film of the Trek franchise as we see our favorite crew in their last voyage. The acting is good with big names such as Kim Cattrall and Christopher Plummer in the roles of a couple key characters.

Christopher Plummer once again delivers a stunning job as the nefarious General Chang. The graphics are very good, as evidenced by the Oscar nomination the film recieved. There are several points in the film where they stand out, such as the Klingon blood in zero gravity, the space battle between the Enterprise, Excelsior, and the Klingond Bird of Prey, and the phaser vaporization.

The music is well done, providing a mix of dark, light, and grandeous moments in the orchestration. The Klingon choir is a unique and welcome addition in the musical area of the film. The storyline is what makes this a good film though.

The story has you on the edge of your seat as you hope that they find the killers and survive in the process. The film has great quotes, lots of action, and a memorable send off to the best crew in Trek history.
