This is an improvement from the last film. Directed by Nicholas Meyer but written and conceived by Leonard Nimoy its the story of how the Klingon empire became peaceful. The script is good and the plotting effective.

The special effects are a tad poor but this was filmed on a much tighter budget after the debacle of the last film. I particulary liked the female Vulcan and Spocks look of weary disappointment when she turns out not as he expected.

This was a good way to end the franchise with the original cast from the 60s show. The only annoying character was the Shakespeare spouting Klingon.
