Review of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) by Mathew H — 17 Aug 2008
After Spock's successful turn from star to director in parts III and IV, good old Shatner decides to have a go himself. To be fair it's not as bad as I remember it being. Part IV had lots of funny moments in it that made you laugh, this time around the jokes don't work in the context of the film.
You'd have thought they would have carried on with the light hearted nature of the previous film, but the concept of meeting "God" is a bit extreme and the final scenes with "God" are a bit naff.
Not bad but in the grand tradition of the odd numbered Trek films, doesn't compare to the even numbered films.
