Awful! Really it is but I do not blame Shatner despite he directed it. From what I hear he did not have control over the end result due to rushed filming and editing and ILM were not available for the FX.
Shatner asked Paramount if he could do a definitive Director's cut with new FX and smoothing scenes etc and they said no so maybe one day we'll get it... In saying that it still will be the worst Trek film of the bunch.
