My favourite of the film series... it is such a beautiful film.
I think Robert Wise is better known as the director of the classic 'The Day the Earth Stood Still', or perhaps I'm showing myself to be the sci fi nerd that I am - lol.
BTW... I believe the 'expanded' or rather Directors Cut is actually a little shorter than the Theatrical. Unfortunately the studio rushed the theatrical into cinemas before it was quite finished, and without a test screening... if memory serves. So glad Robert Wise had the chance to revisit and tighten it a bit while he was still with us. Both versions are beautiful.
