I am a big Star Trek fan, I love Sci-Fi, and all of the movies have something of worth, but the Original Movie of the Star Trek franchise totally flatlined. Not as bad as other Sci-Fi movies, but still pretty long and not much storyline causes this film to drag and the feeling of needing more then just flashing lights and nice looking Space Ships.
Although there are some nice moments the veiwer struggles with not really knowing exactly what is going on or lack of being drawn into a great story. Although it kicks off a great series of movies in the Star Trek franchise it is really not one to brag about, but the beauty is they do get better.
I am still and always will be a Star Trek fan, but this would not be the top of my list to watch.
