Review of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) by Dammy G — 26 Oct 2012
The first Star Trek film suffers somewhat from wanting to be 2001: A Space Odyssey, but its long, lingering shots do not achieve the same effect as Kubrick's classic. That being said, Star Trek: The Motion Picture is a better film than I remmebered.
Despite being somewhat slow and lumbering, it manges nonetheless to be an entertaining and intelligent sci-fi film that explores the nature of identity and positiblity of othe rforms of identity.
